Debra Weisberg
              collaborating with Audrey Goldstein

"My artwork explores the tension to hold the center still before a torrent of energy bursts and breaks apart into controlled disarray. Shapes shift and fissures rupture, appearing to be on the brink of morphing into another state by breaking down or rising up, a kind of entropy. My work seeks to bring order from that impending burst of energy and give shape to it."

Goldstein combines her interest in fictive healing machines as seen in her recent exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, with Weisberg’s exploration of the tension in the disequilibrium in nature begun in her installation (Sub)Surface at the DeCordova Museum.

In this participatory piece, viewers symbolically nourish the land.  Starting at Goldstein’s feeding source, the device creates a metaphoric healing which ends at the various fictitious ruptures fabricated by Weisberg.  These miniature volcanic ruptures become the repositories for the nutrients administered by the participants.
